Andy Timmons is simply a God! And his guitar is gorgeous. I wouldn't buy it but it really is a sexy guitar. (And, once again, Ibanez is the only guitar in the whole world. Everything else is more of a lute or banjo as far as I'm concerned ;))

He dresses funny, looks a bit weird too but man can this guy play (and teach) guitar!

I've just started messing around with the Phrygian mode myself and it's a lot of fun but, compared to the Pentatonic Minor and Natural Minor scales, you need to be a lot more careful to play the "right" notes over the chords in your backing track or you could really botch it up.

Try using your ear to figure that out.
