I've just started messing around with the Phrygian mode myself and it's a lot of fun but, compared to the Pentatonic Minor and Natural Minor scales, you need to be a lot more careful to play the "right" notes over the chords in your backing track or you could really botch it up.
Try using your ear to figure that out.
